Christmas is becoming less and less about Jesus and more about commerce and comfort. People are choosing not to say ‘Merry Christmas’ while others are debating if they are going to celebrate Christmas because of what is unfolding in their lives. If the family is coming together, then they will celebrate. If I am laid off, then I am not celebrating. I am alone this year, I am not celebrating. Money is tight, so I am not celebrating. For far too many, Christmas has become about them rather than about Jesus. Christmas is about Jesus Christ. It is great to gather with family and friends but those are by-products of Christmas. Jesus is the reason for the season.
